What this is

TaqueriaAtlas is a free directory of taquerias in the United States, organised by state and city. Every listing has an address; most have a phone number, and where a business publishes its hours or services we show those too. Listings come from open data and from the businesses themselves, who can correct their card at any time — about the directory. Nothing on the lists is paid placement.

Pick a state above, or use the “near me” button to jump to the taquerias closest to you. City pages show the full list with a map; state pages collect smaller towns that have a single taqueria.

Popular cities

Check before you go. Hours, specials and menus change, and taco trucks and stands may close early or sell out of popular fillings, so check the taqueria's posted hours and call ahead to confirm.

Common questions

What is a taqueria?

A taqueria is a casual restaurant, stand or truck that specializes in tacos, usually made to order on small corn or flour tortillas. Many also serve burritos, quesadillas, tortas, soups and plates with rice and beans.

What is the difference between a taqueria and a Mexican restaurant?

A taqueria is built around tacos and quick service, often with a counter or a walk-up window and a short menu. A full-service Mexican restaurant usually has table service, a longer menu of entrees and often a bar, and it is not listed here unless it is taco-focused.

What are the common taco fillings?

Common fillings include al pastor (marinated pork), carne asada (grilled steak), carnitas (braised pork), pollo (chicken), barbacoa (slow-cooked beef), birria and lengua (beef tongue). Many taquerias also offer vegetarian fillings such as beans, potatoes or grilled vegetables.

Are tacos made with corn or flour tortillas?

Street-style tacos are traditionally made on small corn tortillas, while flour tortillas are common for breakfast tacos, burritos and in northern Mexico and the Southwest. Many taquerias offer both, so ask the server.

Are taco trucks open every day?

Not always. Trucks and stands set their own days and hours, and may move locations or close for weather, so check the truck's posted hours and call ahead.

Which places are not listed here?

Full-service Mexican restaurants without a taco focus, grocery stores and carnicerias without a taco counter, catering-only kitchens and fast-food burger chains are not listed. The directory is for taco-focused places that serve meals.
